ST. NICKS SPLITS SERIES IN ATLANTA

January 21, 2002 - St. Nicks (8-2-0) won its first game and then lost its second last weekend against the Life University Running Eagles, a Division II team in the American Collegiate Hockey Association. On Friday night, St. Nicks got its legs back in the second period, after flying into Atlanta just before the game, and came from behind to win 5-3. On Saturday night, however, playing with a short bench, the Nicks could not overcome an early three goal deficit despite fighting back to tie the score four times during the game. Each time St. Nicks came back, Life responded with a go ahead goal and St. Nicks fell one goal short in the end. Rookie Ryan Ward was the brightest star for St. Nicks on this weekend, scoring a hat trick in each game, which gives him a team leading seven goals on the season.
